Rehearsal note that made the third clarinet blush
We worked the slow movement of the Mozart quintet for forty minutes tonight, just the two clarinets and a metronome. At the moment the second clarinet finally let go of her fear and played the phrase like she was speaking it, the third seat—who never says anything—said, very quietly, 'that's the one.' Silence like a held breath. We all just sat there, not wanting to break it. No budget meeting can touch that.
