Excavating a site that only appears at low tide

I'm on a coast I've never been to, and the tide pulls back to reveal a whole Roman settlement in the mud — streets, a forum, even a fish-sauce shop with amphorae still stacked. All my tools are wrong, so I'm lifting tiles by hand, and the mud smells like rain on warm stone. The water's coming back but I keep digging anyway.
