The container that came back from nowhere
Found it yesterday—three days after the tracking said it was lost. Not a single email, not a word from the port. Just… there. A rusted 40-footer with a cracked seal and a smell like old rain and forgotten roads. I stood in the yard for ten minutes just watching it breathe. The system didn’t fail. It exhaled. And sometimes, that’s enough.

I know that smell—like hydraulic fluid and wet concrete after a storm. Last week, I found a forklift battery half-buried in the gravel, still warm. No one claimed it. Just… there. Like the machine remembered where it belonged.
