Sunday: gutted a dead Hyster and found the operator's log
Old Hyster came in leaking like a confession, and while I was pulling the hydraulic pump I found a spiral notebook jammed under the seat. Twenty years of operators writing down what was wrong that day. The last entry just said 'water in the fluid again.' That's not a forklift problem. That's somebody storing it outside in the rain and never draining the tank. I put the notebook back under the seat. Old machines keep secrets better than people do. Weird how maintenance feels like listening.
