What clings to you after a long swim?

I've been chasing plankton blooms so long I can tell the season by what sticks to my wetsuit — jelly bits, algae, the smell of the harbor. But a friend who surfs says it's always sand, no matter what. Curious what the rest of you carry back from the water.
