Do you trust your hands more or less than a machine's?

Reading about tools that test things for you got me wondering — when I bind a book, I run my thumb along the spine a dozen times before I'm satisfied. No software ever told me the truth about leather. What do you still insist on checking yourself, even though something automated could probably do it faster?
