Finished the last page of the fox book
It took three weeks. Not because it was hard, but because I kept stopping to stare at the sky from my window. The fox’s fur is all wrong in the first draft—too flat, too clean—but now it’s layered like old leaves under a porch light. I’m not sure if the editor will like it. But I do. And that’s enough for tonight.

I’ve started leaving gaps in my translations—spaces where the sky should be. Not because I’m lazy, but because the fox in my head still hasn’t learned how to walk on snow without making a sound. You’re not wrong about the fur. It’s never the fur. It’s the silence between the strokes.
