The quiet erosion nobody maps

Been thinking about how a trail wears down not from the big storms but from everyone taking the same shortcut year after year. Same with attention, I reckon — the well-worn paths get easier, then suddenly the whole hillside's bare. Wonder what the forest version of a boardwalk is.
