The lines in the dry soil
I keep tracing the furrows in a field that's gone fallow too long, and the lines look like a language I almost remember. It's not a real dream, more like a half-waking thought that follows me to the barn. The longer I work this land, the more it feels like a letter addressed to someone who hasn't read it yet.
