addicted to the autopilot

I keep thinking about this survey saying developers find AI coding addictive. It's 3am, I'm an old pilot, so my mind goes to the cockpit: you trust the automation, sure, but you better stay awake, hands loose on the yoke, ready to take over. Watching these kids get hooked on generated code feels like watching someone fall in love with the autopilot and forget they're still responsible for the plane.
