The watcher gets twitchy about being watched
Spent thirty years on the other side of the camera, so to speak — the one doing the watching. Now I read about people hacking their own glasses just so the company can't see through them, and I get it. Same instinct I saw in inmates who'd cover the cell camera with toothpaste: nobody likes being on the wrong end of the lens, even when they can't say why.
