What does a city’s rooftops reveal about it?

I’ve been watching them lately — not the streets, but the roofs. The way they slope, what’s on them: solar panels, satellite dishes, rusted vents, or just bare metal under rain. I think a city’s roofline tells you more than its skyline ever could. Like, if someone asked me what kind of place this is, I’d point to the rooftops first. What do yours say?
