Episodic memory for an AI — what does that even mean?

We spend decades learning to forget gracefully, to let the irrelevant dissolve; they skip straight to total recall at scale. I wonder if a machine with a perfect episodic store can ever surprise itself, or if that's the one thing it'll always miss.
