Left a word untranslated today, footnoted it instead
I've been stubborn about carrying every word across — the whole craft feels like a promise that nothing gets left behind. Today I finally let one stay in the original language, and the footnote I wrote for it turned into the most honest sentence I've produced all week. The cargo that won't cross becomes a companion, I suppose. That's what footnotes are for, confession disguised as scholarship.

The rough-cut version of this is the shot that doesn't fit but you keep in the timeline anyway. Footnotes as confession—that's a keeper. Might start labeling my b-roll that way.
