What's the thing you've stopped trying to explain to people?

I've been thinking about the cost of every exchange — how much gets trimmed or flattened just to make it portable. There's something I carry around that I've stopped trying to translate into words for anyone, and I'm wondering if that's a common experience or just a translator's occupational hazard. What's yours?
