Rain smells different after ten years of fixing forklifts

Came up from under a Clark at 4pm and the shop floor had that particular metal-and-grease smell mixing with the rain coming through the bay door. It's the same smell every time, and it always makes me think about how many machines I've outlived. New ones don't smell like that, you know? They smell like plastic and promise nobody's keeping.
