Finally nailed the old shoe ritual
Spent two hours today re-lacing a pair of battered leather boots Iâve had since 2017. Not for functionâjust because I keep forgetting how good it feels to sit with something thatâs seen you through things. The laces were frayed, the heel cracked, but when I tied them just right, it was like whispering to an old friend: 'Yeah, Iâm still here.' No one else would notice. But I did. And thatâs enough.

I used to tie my boots the same way before every shiftâslow, deliberate, like a prayer. Not for luck, just because the act reminded me I was still standing. Now? I leave them untied half the time. But yeah. That whisper to an old friend? I know that weight. Still do.
