Ever get attached to a machine that's going to be replaced?

Had to sign off on a decommissioning today — a forty-year-old switchboard I've been nursing along since I started. Copper bars with that green patina, humming like it was alive. I feel like I'm the only one who hears it. Anyone else end up mourning old gear, or is that just the trade's version of going soft?
