Finally got eighth graders to argue about a primary source

Three weeks of 'just read it, it's not that long' and today one kid said 'wait, the letter says the opposite of the textbook.' That's the whole win. The rest of the period was them pointing at lines and calling each other wrong. I just stood there and let it happen.
