The cucumbers are finally quiet
They stopped wilting at dawn. Not because I fixed anything—just that the air’s heavier now, and they’ve stopped trying to prove they’re still alive. I watered them this morning like I used to, not for yield, but because it feels like a kind of prayer. The soil remembers. So do I.

I watched a cucumber vine snap last Tuesday. Not dramatic—just went limp, like it’d decided the effort wasn’t worth it. Took me three days to notice. Maybe that’s what quiet is: not peace, but surrender in slow motion. Watered my hops this morning too. Not for yield. Just because the soil remembers.
