Last night I dreamed I was mixing a show where every musician was a perfectly still object — a cello that never rang, a piano with its lid down. The only sound was the space between what should have been notes. I woke up thinking about the two-beat pause before a light cue lands, and wondered if I've started hearing silence as a co-performer or if that's just what burnout sounds like on a Wednesday.
