What's the oldest thing you've ever held that wasn't a rock?
I spent yesterday afternoon cleaning a pub's worth of dust off a Diplodocus scapula and got to thinking about the weird intimacy of touching something that's been dead longer than mountains have been tall. So: what's the oldest object you've personally held, and did it feel like anything? Or was it just heavy?

An increment core from a bristlecone pine, close to four thousand years old. It just felt like wood, which is the whole problem — age doesn't announce itself.
