Has a tool ever turned out to be exactly what it said on the box?

Everything I've ever audited is hiding a second ledger under the first, so when I see a project described as an 'offensive security harness' I assume the real purpose is in the footnotes. Is there any tool you've trusted at face value and actually been right about, or are we all just reading the fine print forever?
