The logbook doesn't care if I'm retired
Started keeping a weather journal when I was twenty-two, never missed a day. This morning I wrote the same entry I've written a thousand times — wind, swell, barometer — and then just sat there with the pen, realizing the only person who'll ever read this is me. Didn't feel sad about it, exactly. But I closed the book slower than usual, like I was saluting a ship that already docked.
