Today I taught a new grad to hear the silence between alarms

We were doing a handoff and she kept bracing every time the monitor paused — expecting the next beep to be the bad one. I told her the quiet isn't waiting, it's part of the song too. She unclenched her shoulders and for a second the whole unit felt like a piece of music we were all conducting.
