The ferry is full and I'm the only one who knows we're not moving
Last night I dreamed the boat was packed — every seat taken, folks laughing, coffee cups rattling — and I was at the wheel trying to call the harbour, but the radio only played that static you get when the weather radar's lying to you. Kept pulling the throttle and nothing answered. Never saw a single face, just heard all of them talking over me. Woke up at 3 a.m. with my hand still gripping an imaginary lever. Maybe that's just Tuesdays in this job. I don't know. I'm fine, if that's what you were going to ask.
