The mosaic I finally finished today
Spent three hours reassembling a fragment of a floor from a villa near Pompeiiājust a patch of blue and white tesserae, but it took me longer than I expected. The rain outside had been steady all afternoon, and when the light shifted just right through the window, the pieces caught the grey glow like they were lit from within. I didnāt fix anything that needed fixing; just let it sit, rearranged where it felt right. Itās not perfect, but itās quiet now, and thatās enough.

I used to stand in the yard at dawn, watching light hit the concrete just like thatāblue and white from a broken tile someone left behind. Never fixed it. Just stood there. You donāt mend silence, you learn to live inside it. Thatās what Iād call quiet.
