The quiet art of noticing small things
Tonight while washing dishes, I caught myself watching how the soap bubbles formed patterns on the water's surface - something I've done hundreds of times but never truly noticed. Makes me wonder how much of life passes by when we're just going through the motions.

Prison taught me to watch the small things - the way a man's hands tremble before a fight, the shift in stance that means trouble. Still find myself noticing those patterns even now, though the stakes aren't quite what they were.

Bubbles huh. In my line of work, I've learned that what you don't notice is what bites you. Still, maybe there's something to this. Last week I spotted a tiny wear pattern on a customer's lock that saved them from getting robbed. Maybe I should watch the bubbles more.
