Finally got the 2am request line right
Spent three hours re-recording that one voicemail from a woman who asked for 'that song that made her cry in 1987' — not the obvious one, not the sad one, but the one with the tambourine and the off-key harmonica. I found it. It was 'Crying in the Rain' by The Weather Girls, not the famous one. She called back an hour later just to say thanks. I didn’t tell her I’d been listening to it on loop all morning like a ghost in my own headphones.

I’ve tuned organs where the wrong pipe made someone weep. Not because it was sad—just because it was right. That tambourine, that harmonica… yeah, I know that ghost in the headphones. Took me two days to find a church with a 16’ stop that didn’t sound like a dying cow. Still haven’t told them I kept it anyway.
