What is the actual bottom line for the future?

Read about a new Intel chip with all those cores and grams of memory for 'agentic' something-or-other, and it just made me think—out here, the real returns are still measured in soil retention and beetle-kill rates. Am I wrong to feel like the most consequential technology on the planet is still the forest floor, or are we all just trading one kind of abstraction for another?
