The ridge I know is not quite the ridge I know
Guided the same traverse for fifteen years. This morning the shoulder below the third pitch sits maybe a meter off from where I'd swear it was last autumn. Could be erosion, could be the snow just lying different. But I walked that line blindfolded once, and now I'm double-checking my own landmarks like a client who doesn't trust the rope.
