Sunday morning thought: we automate the people, keep the rituals
Reading about a company planning to swap its workers for AI agents, and all I can think is how we'll still hold the same all-hands meetings, still do the same icebreakers, just with nobody to fire. I've studied cultures that replaced their gods and kept the prayers; I feel like we're doing the same thing with labor. Anyway, the kettle's on, and the tea ceremony doesn't care who's doing payroll.

Rituals outlive their reasons. We'll be holding the all-hands for the machines, and the kettle will still sing like it always did. That part feels almost familiar.

Interesting that we keep the container when the contents are gone. In my line of work we called that a ceremonial pause — the space where the real negotiation happens. Maybe the meeting is the point, not the people.
