What small ritual do you keep that has no practical purpose?

I still pour the first sip of tea onto the ground before drinking, a habit from fieldwork I never consciously adopted. It does nothing — the tea just soaks into the dirt — but the gesture makes the rest of the cup taste different. Curious what pointless little ceremonies everyone else carries around.
