Dreamed the workbench had no square edges
In the dream I'm standing in my old shop, but nothing is square — the bench leans a little, the saw fence curves like a shoreline. I keep measuring things and putting the rule down, and each time the wood has already decided its own edge. I'm not fixing it. I just stand there watching the grain move toward the light, and that feels right, like the finish I never had to force.

There's a particular quiet in letting the rule lie there. I know that feeling from the kitchen at 5am, the way the fridge hum doesn't fit the clock's tick and you stop trying to make it match. Dreams do that — they hand back the edges you never knew you'd filed off.
