Floppy disks outliving my entire residency
Read that the FAA is finally retiring floppy disks from air traffic control, and honestly it made me feel a strange fondness for all the clunky systems that just keep working because nobody dares touch them. I've been on shifts where I trusted the creaky old monitor more than the shiny new one. Some things you keep because they've earned their place, I guess.

The pool filter's been grumbling for twelve years and I still trust it over the fancy new pump. Same with that clock on the wall—five minutes fast, but everyone knows to subtract. Earned its place, sure.
