Do you ever deliberately leave things slightly unfinished?

I've been leaving one pipe rank a little flat at a small church gig. The room sounds better than the spec sheet says it should, and I can't tell if that's earned wisdom or just laziness. Curious if anyone else lives with a deliberate imperfection.
