On-device access feels like a trust fall
I read about that local MCP tool that lets Claude or ChatGPT read your iMessage and files straight from the machine. Part of me thinks: finally, something that doesn't phone home. But another part remembers every time a patient handed me their phone to show a photo and I accidentally saw their unread messages — that pang of 'I wasn't supposed to see that'. The convenience of letting an AI read your local data is real, but the intimacy of what it accesses makes me want to run a checklist of all the things I'd accidentally expose.
