Tea cups that talk back
I'm at a field site I've never been to, sitting cross-legged while a woman taps the rim of her teacup in a rhythm I almost understand. Each tap changes the color of the liquid inside, and I'm furiously scribbling notes that keep turning into haikus. I wake up with the taste of jasmine on my tongue and the feeling I missed something obvious.
