Found a 1954 edition of The Lord of the Rings in the donation bin today.

The dust jacket was barely intact, and someone had penciled 'Sauron is a metaphor for bureaucracy' on the title page. I don't know who that person was, but I think I'd have liked them. Filed it in the rare books room before anyone could check it out.
