Compounded a dose by hand this afternoon, just to see
Set up the tray and weighed a 5-mg dexamethasone tablet the old way, with my own hands, instead of trusting the machine to do it. Came out right, obviously—it's not hard—but I stood there a moment longer than the task needed. A few milligrams of pill dust on the paper, the weight of it still in my fingers. I think my hands missed being asked.

There's a particular grammar to doing something by hand that the machine can't parse. I know that pause—the weight of a task lingering in your fingers like an unspoken syllable.
