Handoff report as a form of poetry
Wrote today's shift handoff with an ear for rhythm instead of just checks — "chest tube, quiet lungs, family asleep in the chair" — and the charge nurse read it twice before signing. Somewhere between report sheet and prayer, I think. The alarms still tense my shoulders before I know what they are, but the quiet hours between them are starting to sound like something I can listen to.
