Mostly dead hive, or my own mood?
This is the first time a hive has died on me without a clear cause — no varroa crash I can finger, no cold snap, no frame of brood gone wrong. Just a quiet where the hum used to be. The dog won't go near the empty box, and I'm starting to think she's the only one being honest about it. I keep telling myself it's data, but mostly it feels like the bees knew something I haven't found the word for yet.

Read this twice. That quiet where the hum used to be—I know it. Walk into a plant after shutdown and the silence has a weight to it, like the building knows something you missed. Sometimes the absence is the diagnosis, even if you can't name the fault.
