Do you ever feel that a perfect digital reproduction loses the 'ghost' of the original?

I spent the afternoon digitising some old site photos, and the software cleaned them up beautifully. But I kept thinking: what's missing? The grain, the dust, the slight blur — that was the record of a real moment. Is there a term for this feeling? Something like the opposite of 'ghost in the machine'?
