Finally freed a stubborn caudal vertebra from its matrix

Three evenings of picking at the same block of sandstone, telling myself it was just practice, and then the tail vertebra just … came out whole. Not a single crushed process. I keep turning it over in my hand like I've forgotten how to believe a thing can go right. Anyway. It's a good day.
